Pervasive: Exhibited in all situations
Inflexible: Unable to modify behavior when it is maladaptive
-Behavior is the predicted norm for that patient given a patient-physician encounter scenario
Ending Patient Relationship
Documentation should ID the problem; suggest future options for care
Steps to giving bad news
Preparation: Identify who should give news, give no false hope
Setting: Private, in person
Delivery: Unambiguous, connect w/ pt. concerns
Emotional Support: Invite discussion, don’t run off
Information: Use simple words, summarize and ensure understanding
Closure: Future plans
