- Colorism exists in black/African American culture (Essence, Light Girls’ and Dark Girls’ film on Kanopy)

- Cultural Authentication (Eicher & Erekosima, 1980): A process of assimilation through which a garment or an accessory external to a culture is adopted and changed
- Cultural Appropriation: When one person or culture uses the unique creations of another culture for their benefit
