Powerpoint for Panopto self study recordings 3 Flashcards
function of the nasociliry nerve
small branch of the opthalmic division. Goes medially and its branches supply medial part of the orbit, ethmoidal air sinus, nasal cavity
function of the lacrimal branch
smallest branch of the ophthalmic division, travels laterally and supplies lateral part of orbit and lacrimal gland
function of the frontal branch
Largest branch of Ophthalmic division. Divides into supraorbital and supratrochlear branches
function of the maxillary division?
passes through the inferior orbital canal in the floor of the orbit, and exits through the infraorbital foramen as the infraorbital nerve
what is the opthalmic artery and what does it supply?
The Ophthalmic artery is a large branch of the Internal Carotid artery. It supplies all structures in the orbit, and also some branches to the nasal cavity and forehead.
what is the central retinal artery?
travels within the substance of the optic nerve, supplies inner layers of the retina
what are the short posterior ciliary arteries?
supplies the posterior part of the choroid
what is the long posterior ciliary arteries?
supply anterior choroid, ciliary body and iris
what is the central retinal artery and vein a branch of?
branch of ophthalmic a
what is the optic disc?
start of the optic nerve, physiological blind spot
where does the sup and inf ophthalmic veins drain into?
cavernous sinus
where is the cavernous sinus situated?
immediately posterior to the apex of the orbit
