Cutaneous innervation for the posterior aspect of the thigh and over the popliteal fossa
Posterior femoral cutaneous S1-S3
Anterior and medial aspects supplied by which cutaneous nerve
Anterior femoral cutaneous nerve L2 - 3
Lateral cutaneous innervation for the posterior thigh is
Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve L2 -L3
Over the head of the fibula cutaneous innervation posterior
Common peroneal, or lateral sural cutaneous nerve L4-S2
Biceps femoris
Long head
O- ischial tuberosity
I- head of the fibula, also spray onto posterior aspect of tibia as well
N- tibial portion of sciatic (more medial)
A- extend thigh and flex the leg
Short head
O- linea aspera
N- common peroneal portion of sciatic (more lateral)
A- cannot extend the thigh, but can flex knee
Semitendinosis
O- ischial tuberosity
I- medial surface of tibia inferior to the condyle (pes anserine)
N- tibial portion of sciatic
A- extend thigh, flex leg, medially rotates leg
Semimembranosus
O- ischial tuberosity
I- medial condyle of the tibia
N- tibial portion of the sciatic
A- extend thigh, flex leg, medially rotate leg
