How is ECT thought to work in the brain?
Thought to decrease 5-HT1 and increase 5-HT2 receptors in the brain
What are the contraindications to ECT?
Raised ICP, Cardiovascular disease and dementing illness, epilepsy and other neuro disorders and cervical spine disease.
