A

These are Ports from a SINGLE YEAR (not declared year) 4-6 years in wood.
The year of vintage and year of bottling must be stated on the label.
2 styles of bottling: filtered and unfiltered (will require decanting) - it will state on the label “unfiltered”

Crusted Port

A

Blend of quality wines from a number of vintages.

They bottled unfiltered, min 3 years matured in bottle

Vintage Port

A

Vintage year declared by the individual shippers, when they believe that their wine is of sufficient quality.
Vintage Ports are made only in exceptional years from a blend of wine of the same year.
The wine matured in cask for 2 years then bottled.
Vintage Port will continue mature in bottle for 10-15 years but may continue up to 40 years (or more, depending the year)

Single Quinta (Off vintage) Port

A

Single Quinta made in years when they have not declared a vintage. The wines made in same way as vintage ports, but they sold under their Quinta’s, ex: Dow’s Quinta do Bomfim.
They matured in bottle and treated same as Vintage Port.
