A

2011 - peaceful protests against president Assad. Due to corruption in the government.
The government openly fired on the crowd (many young people from wealthy families were killed)

2013 - USA Got involved when the gov began using chemical weapons.

Since then many rebel groups have formed. All with different agendas. And aims. Making it really hard to make peace.

  • widespread poverty.

There are how refugee camps that were set up in 2011.
They are now incredibly overpopulated.
= no privacy
= low sanitation
= recourses are more scarce and distributing them fairly is a huge problem.

= overcrowding, strain on recourses.
- prices go up, competition for jobs = decreasing wages.

House prices have tripled.

A

-Safety: by May 2014, the death toll surpassed 16,000ppl.
- Lack of recourses
- houses bombed/ destroyed
= 6 million internal displacement
= 3 million internationally displaced.
