POP QUIZ 2 Flashcards
Ground Evac: abandon a/c
One long sustained ring
What must be done prior to landing with a prop oil flag
Engine shutdown procedure
Ditching/crash landing
Ditching/crash landing imminent (brace)
- 6 short rings
- One long sustained ring
Indication for nacelle overheat (3)
- Master warning
- Solid fire handle
- CAWS annunciator
Action for Nacelle overheat in the air
Engine shutdown procedure
Purpose for low speed ground idle (3)
- reduce noise
- reduce thrust
- reduce fuel flow
Actions in event of a wing fire (2)
- close engine bleed valve switched & isolation valve on affected wing
- land as soon as possible
Actions for engine fire on the ground
- ground idle
- Engine shutdown procedure
Action for turbine overheat on the ground
- All throttles ground idle
- Ground stop
Action for nacelle overheat on the ground
- All throttles ground idle
- Engine shutdown procedure for afftected engine
Gen out light actions (3)
- Check:
Freq, volts, load
Warning with prop out of limits (2)
- If uncontrolled overspeed occurs, reduce airspeed to a speed at which safe control of the a/c can be maintained but not below VMCA2
- Do not adjust throttle position for affected engine until malfunction is diagnosed
What torque does NTS operate at
1260 +/- 600
Actions for turbine overheat in the air
- flight idle
- If condition persists, engine shutdown procedure
What is VMCA based on (7)
- No 1 engine inop & windmilling on NTS
- Max TQ on all remaining engines
- zero bleed
- Flap 50, 3000psi rudder boost
- max rudder deflection or 180lbs force (occurs 1st)
- 5deg to the live
- gear down
What is VMCG based based on?
- # 1 engine inop & windmilling on NTS
- Max TQ on all remaining engines
- zero bleed
- Flaps 50, 3000psi rudder boost
- Max rudder deflection or 180lbs force (occurs 1st)
- Max deviation 30ft from centreline
- wings level
What must be monitored with a prop oil flag
RPM & TAS closely monitored during throttle movements
Takeoff: throttle control failure
During takeoff should throttle control failure occur & has caused engine to move to high power, pilots discretion to abort the t/o or continue airborne with the malfunction
Indication of turbine overheat
Master warning
CAWS annunciator
Hydraulic pressure/fluid loss (3)
- EDP for affected system: OFF
- Suction boost pump for affected system: OFF
- Hyd reservoir level: notify level/trend
Actions required should prop fail to feather (5)
- feather override button: hold in for 30sec, pull out
- ignition ctrl CB: pull (applicable)
- Fire handle: In (if no fire)
- Attain 150kts (if poss)
- LASAPRAC
Sequence of events to take place if LH inner wing light illuminates (4)
- Wing anti icing: OFF
If overheat continues after one minute:
- Affected wing engine bleed air valve: closed
- Affected wing isolation valve: CLOSED
- APU/External air: OFF
2 cautions wrt fuel dumping
- Do not dump under 5000ft AGL
- do not dump in a circular pattern
emergency Gear extension procedures (3)
- Manual gear ext
- Emergency hyd extension
- NLG manual ext
Four condxns an airstart will be terminated
- failure of prop to rotate 5 sec after condxn lever moves to airstart
- if NTS is not stated by 10% rpm
- no ignition by 40% rpm
- any other malfunction that if it were a ground start, would result in a “stop start” call.
