Polyesters Flashcards

1
Q

How can polymers be made by condensation polymerization?

A

1) Monomers react together and bonds form between them, making polymer chains.
2) Each monomer has to contain at least two functional groups, one on each end of the molecule.
3) Each functional group can react with the functional group of another monomer, creating long chains of alternating monomers.

Q

What can some polyesters do?

A

Biodegrade - this reduces their pollutant effect because they won’t stay in landfill for ever.
