Plants (B4) Flashcards
What is the word equation for photosynthesis?
Carbon dioxide + water
>
Glucose + oxygen
(This requires energy)
What is the word equation for respiration ?
Glucose + oxygen
>
Carbon dioxide + water (+energy)
(Energy is released there)
In what time of the day do plants photosynthesis?
Only in the day
(When the sun is out)
Take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen
(Photosynthesis)
When do plants respire only? (As photosynthesising is part of respiration)
At night
Take it oxygen and give out carbon dioxide just like us.
(Respiration)
How do plants give out their substances or take in their substances from the environment?
Diffusion
How does diffusion work in photosynthesis for plants?
When plants photosynthesis it uses up a lot of carbon dioxide
Therefore hardly any left in the leaf
Carbon dioxide diffuses inside the leaf
Oxygen is being made as a waste product inside leaf (some used in respiration)
Oxygen is being diffused to the environment
How does diffusion work for respiration in plants?
At night,
Carbon dioxide is made in respiration, oxygen is used up
Lots of carbon dioxide, less oxygen
Carbon dioxide diffuses out of leaf and because there is little oxygen is plant
Oxygen diffuses into the leaf
