Planes & Axis Flashcards
What is a plane reffered to?
A pane of glass ( think of a pane of glass splitting you in half)
What are the 8 movements at a joint?
- Flexion
- Extension
- Hyper extension
- Plantar-flexion
- Dorsi-flexion
- Adduction
- Abduction
- Rotation
What are the 3 planes?
- Sagittal
- Frontal
- Transversal
What is a sagittal plane
Being split in half vertically
- Think of two face; half of his face is SAGging
What is a frontal plane
Being split in half vertically, but having the front of your body chopped off
What is a transverse plane
Being split in half horizontally, like universe - saturn!!
What movements occur on a sagittal plane?
- Flexion
- Extension
- Hyperextension
- Plantar flexion
- Dorsi flexion
What movements occur on a frontal plane?
- Adduction
- Abduction
What movements occur on a transverse plane?
- Rotation
What is an axis?
A sharp pole sticking through you!! (axe)
What is a transverse axis?
A pole going through your hip from side to side (odd one out)
What is a saggital axis?
A pole going through the front of you, through your belly button
What is a longitudinal axis?
A pole going through your skull to your feet (longest pole)
What are the three axis’?
- Transverse
- Sagittal
- Longitudinal
What axis does the frontal plane pair with?
Sagittal (cartweel)
What axis does the sagittal plane pair with?
Transverse (roly polys)
What axis does the transverse plane pair with?
Longitudinal (pirouette)
