aims of piloting

A
  • involves a handful of participants to road test the procedure to check the investigation runs smoothly
  • when using questionnaires or interviews it is helpful to try out questions in advance to make it not ambiguous
  • in observational studies, pilot studies provide ways to check coding system before the real investigation ( allows researcher to identify any problems)
