What is meant by pilot study?
A
Small scale prototypes of a study that are carried out before the full and real research.

Why do a pilot study?
A
Highlight any problems within the study and amend them. It’s also a way to ensure time, effort and money aren’t being wasted on flawed methodology.

What problems can be highlighted in pilot studies?
A
1- Experimental design- are p’s grouped properly?
2- Are instructions clear enough?
3- Measuring instruments- such as behavioural categories or questionnaire questions- clear enough?
