how to convert bar to psi?
1 bar = 1 atm. 14.7psi in 1 atm.
how to convert bar to kPa
1 bar = 1 atm. 101.33 kPa at 1atm.
Describe the relationship between area, pressure, and force.
With increasing area, there’s decreasing pressure (force constant)
Will a small or large syringe have more pressure (same force)?
small. Less surface area.
What’s the equation for pressure?
P=F/a
How many bevels does a syringe needle have?
3
Given the relationship of pressure, force, and area, what does this mean regarding administering large amounts of fluids with a syringe?
it would be ineffective. A better choice would be a larger needle diameter (impractical) or a standard transfusion set.
How does adjusting the APL affect the spring and valve?
Increasing the APL valve increases the pressure on the valve, making it more difficult for gas to escape into scavenging.
When does the APL valve open? (related to pressure)
When pressure exerting downward on the valve is less than the pressure of the gas in the pressure relief valve.
Describe the mechanics of the pressure regulator
Increasing the tension of the spring increases the potential internal gas pressure. When internal gas (counter force) pressure exceeds the spring force, the internal valve opens and releases gas (increasing pressure) into the regulator and equalizes the two pressures.
Barometric pressure is also known as
absolute pressure
manometric pressure is known as
gauge pressure
Barometric pressure is measured against a _______
vacuum.
Manometric pressure is measured against ____
surrounding pressure
What is hydrostatic pressure?
the pressure exerted by a fluid at equilibrium against a barrier.
when pressing the bung of a syringe, where does pressure from the internal fluid distribute
all directions to all parts of the system
1 newton is equivalent to ____ gms wt
100
1 gram = ________ ounces
0.035
1 kg = _____ ounces
35 ounces
One newton is equal to 3.5 ounces, which is the weight of which fruit?
apple
