  • reduce risk of stress-related diseases, e.g. hypertension, cardiovascular heart disease, digestive disorders.

A

Availability of help from others when needed, e.g. family, friends, peers, doctor, online support group, phone helpline.

  • appraisal support, e.g. assist understanding of stressor and effects
  • tangible assistance, e.g. material support (money), help with daily chores) to offset stressor effects
  • information support, e.g. specific advice, resources.
