Photosynthesis Flashcards
What is photosynthesis?
Plants take carbon dioxide from the air. They take up water form the coil and they combine to make glucose,
What is a byproduct of photosynthesis?
Oxygen
Where does the energy come for in photosynthesis?
The sun.
What uses the energy in photosynthesis?
A substance called chlorophyll. It is present in the leaves of green plants.
What are chloroplasts?
Tiny structures that contain chlorophyll.
Where does the water travel in photosynthesis?
From the roots, through the stem and into the leaf in a system of vessels.
What can glucose be used for?
Energy or to make up other substances.
To make other substance what does the glucose have to be combined with ?
Other chemicals elements such as nitrogen and potassium.
