Phenytoin
A
Class 1B anti-dysrhythmic along with Lidocaine. Acts on Na channels to slow action potential. If given IV, most give no faster than 50mg per min.

A
Only used to speed recovery during accidental pediatric ingestion or procedural sedation.

Aspirin: acid/base disorders
A
Metabolic acidsos due to uncoupled oxidative phosphorylation and increased organic acids.
Respiratory alkalosis due to stimulation of medullary respiratory center causing hyperventilation.

Digoxin toxicity
A
Most common contraindication in dig toxicity is Ca to treat hyperkalemia
Also contraindicated are tranvenous and transthoracic pacing, as myocardium is super-excitable
Treatment: Fab and atropine for brady
