What is each column of the FMA for?
1- A/THR MODE 2- VERTICAL MODE 3- LATERAL MODE 4- APPR CAPABILITY / DH/MDA 5- AP/FD/A/THR ENGAGEMENT STATUS
How can you tell if a change has occurred on the FMA?
The newly active mode will have a white box around it for 10 sec
What do the different colors mean on the fma?
blue- armed
magenta- armed due to a constraint
green- engaged
Go around in the NEO, why might you get a Amber FOR GA: SET TOGA message?
Bringing the thrust levers to the FLEX/MCT detent in APPR mode below 1000 RA will trigger this.
Set the levers to the TOGA detent to fix it
When does the SIDE Stick position Icon appear on the PFD? (White Cross)
Displays when the first engine starts
Disappears at liftoff
What do large RED arrows on the PFD indicate?
Pitch attitudes in excess of 30 deg.
What should you see on the PFD after loading an ILS approach in the MCDU and selecting the LS/ILS pb on?
ILS freq and course
ILS Identifier (If in range)
LOC/GS scales
When would the sideslip index change from Yellow to BLUE?
In case of an Engine failure during TO or GA. It becomes a blue beta target
What does the yellow trend vector on the speed tape indicate?
Where the speed will be in 10 sec if current trends are maintained
What is the difference in blue and magenta speed targets?
Blue- Selected on FCU
Magenta- FMGC Generated
What is Vls and how is it depicted?
Vls- Lowest selectable speed
Top of the amber strip on the speed tape
In appr mode its equal to Vref
What is Vmax and how is it depicted?
The lowest of VMO/MMO/Vle/Vfe
Bottom of RED/BLACK strip on the speed tape.
What is green dot?
Clean Engine out operating speed
Appears when aircraft is in a clean conf
Approx Vl/d max
What is groundspeed mini?
Active in managed speeds
Calculates the GS associated with Vapp
adjusts Vapp to higher values to maintain that GS and prevent airspeed from going below the normal Vapp
whats it mean if the magenta speed target is higher than Vapp?
GSmini has increased airspeed to compensate for a gust
