Q

Why is it possible for insects to become resistant to pesticides?

A

Because pest insect populations are usually large in size and they breed quickly, there is always a risk that insecticide resistance may evolve, especially when insecticides are misused or over-used.

Q

What do we need to keep in mind when talking about pesticides and insecticides?

A

in resistance, pre-existing mechanisms are selected by insecticide use; this drives the evolution of resistant forms. Individuals are born resistant. Immunity does not develop.
