The pattern of thoughts and feelings and the way that someone interacts with the environment to make someone unique
What are personality traits?
Behaviour that can be predicted in a majority of situations
What are the personality traits?
Type A or Type B
Stable of Unstable
Introvert or Extrovert
What is a trait?
A behaviour that is consistent across a variety of similar situations
What is a state?
Behaviour is specific to a certain situation
What is the ‘narrow band approach’?
A person is either Type A or Type B, they cannot be any in between
What is Type A personality?
Impatient
Intolerant
Likes control
High levels of stress
What is Type B personality?
Patient
Tolerant
Doesn’t like control
Low level of stress
What is anxiety?
Negative emotional state associated with arousal
What is state anxiety?
Anxiety felt in a certain situation
What is somatic anxiety?
Physiological response
What is cognitive anxiety?
Psychological response
What is a stable personality?
Emotional state does not constantly change
What is an unstable personality?
Emotional state is unpredictable
What are the qualities of an unstable personality?
Highly anxious
