To show possessive nouns
use an apostrophe s.
ex. mom’s rosebush. my sister’s new baby
Plural possessive nouns
the s comes before the apostrophe.
ex. the candidates’ debate. the Millers’ house.
Possessive for singular nouns ending in s
most common way is to add apostrophe s.
ex. Ross’s friends. The bus’s windshield.

add apostrophe s
ex. TV’s features. FBI’s most wanted.
Possessive pronouns
no apostrophe s only add apostrophe to pronoun contractions.
When writing the day
always use numerals. If only talking about day use ordinal but still write with numerals.
ex. June 2 or on the 2nd.
When writing the full date the year is
set off by commas
ex. ….June 6, 1944, …….
When talking about a decade, the apostrophe is placed
where the missing numbers are.
ex. ’80s
When writing cardinal numbers spell out
zero through nine and any number at the beginning of a sentence.
Instead of using fractions
spell it out.
ex. half of all people
For more precise figures use
decimals.
for numbers less than zero
add zero before decimal point.
ex. 0.67, 0.005
