1. IDENTIFY JOB VACANCY
* Retirement, career breaks

2. CARRY OUT JOB ANALYSIS
* Tasks and duties that successful candidate would carry out
3. CREATE JOB DESC. AND PERSON SPEC.
* Job Description - Info about what the job involves (tasks, duties pay, etc.)
* Person Specification - info about the type of person fit for the job (skills qualities, qualifications etc.)
4. ADVERTISE THE JOB
* Business makes people aware of the vacancy (internally or externally)
5. SEND OUT APPLICATION FORMS
* Potential candidates are asked to apply by filling out an application or sending in a CV.
Define Internal Recruitment and External Recruitment
INTERNAL - Business looks for a candidate that already works for the business to fill a vacancy

EXTERNAL - Business looks for a candidate outside the business to fill a vacancy

List 3 advantages and disadvantages of EXTERNAL recruitment
ADVANTAGES
* Wider pool of candidates → better chance of selecting the best candidate
* New staff bring new skills
* Workers have already been trained→ saves time and money
DISADVANTAGES
* Expensive → training new staff in specific procedures
* Not seen the candidate at work before → may select the wrong candidate
* Time-consuming → Large number of CVs and applications to review

ADVANTAGES
* Candidate is already known in the company → less chance of hiring the wrong person
* Cheaper → no need for advertising
* Promotional opportunities for staff → motivational
DISADVANTAGES
* Limits number of potential candidates
* No new experience brought to the business
* Creates a new vacancy
