Suddenly and without warning a sound like the blowing of a VIOLENT wind or tornado filled the house and overwhelmed them.
The sound of the wind on Pentecost reminded them of
Powerful OT divine manifestations.
Ex - God speaking to Job out of the storm.
The sound of wind on Pentecost indicated to all those present that
God was going to manifest himself and His spirit in a special way. The sound of the wind with corresponding power is what Jesus spoke of in Acts 1:8. It was meant to empower the for service
The Fire on the day of Pentecost looked like
Suddenly what seemed to be tongues of fire appeared and separated. Something that looked like a ball or mass of flames appeared over teh whole group.
After the initial appearance of the fire on Pentecost it
Broke up and a single tongue that looked like aflame of fire settled on the head of each of them, men and women.
The fire at Pentecost was NOT
Actual fire. But fire and light were commons symbols of divine presence.

Fire is connected with OT prophecies of the outpouring of the Spirit in Isaiah, Ezekiel, Joel and Zechariah.

The sound of the wind indicated to those present that God was about to manifest himself and His spirit in a special way. It was the sound of a wind with carrying power that Jesus spoke of and promised in ACts 1:8
The purpose of fire at Pentecost was

The fire signified speech
The fiery, powerful prophetic witness that the Holy Spirit would give.
It also signified God’s acceptance of the Chuch body as the next temple or sanctuary of the Holy Spirit.
The single flames that rested on each of their heads signified
Accepting them as being the temples of the Holy Spirit.
