Q

In Acts 19, what did the men of Ephesus mean when they said they had been baptized in John’s baptism.

A

The men didn’t understand what Paul meant. The only baptism they knew was John the Baptist’s baptism. They had not been taught about Pentecost or the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Paul explained that John’s baptism was repentance. This was preparatory. John himself told the people to believe in Jesus. Thus meant that they would not only accept him as messiah and savior but obey him and ask to receive the Holy Spirit.

Q

What was the purpose of Paul’s question to Agrippa in Acts 26:27?

A

Paul asks this question and answers it because he believed the king was familiar with the things he had been sharing. The king knew the Jewish culture and religion.

And the facts about Christ’s death, resurrection, and events of the gospel were done in public and publicly known. He knew the king, unlike others in the audience understood his logic and trial of thought.

Q

How did Agrippa respond to Paul’s question in Acts 26:27

A

HE says do you think in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?

The king realized Paul was trying to convert him. By saying he believed the prophets Paul was saying that he would therefore have to believe what he said about eh Messiah, and this would cause him to believe in Jesus.

But the king was unwilling to say he believed in the prophets or that he was willing to say he believed Paul.
