PEDs Flashcards
What does PARQ stand for?
Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire
What are Anabolic steroids used for?
It involves injecting a copy of testosterone into the body, it increases muscle mass, and decreases recovery time.
What are some disadvantages of Anabolic steroids?
It can lead to:
- Organ damage
- Cancer
- Infertility
- Being more injury prone
What are Stimulants used for?
They’re substances that act directly on the nervous system, and are used to increase aggression and alertness. They make the user more concentrated, increasing their heart rate and energy produced.
What are some disadvantages of Stimulants?
- They’re highly addictive
- They can disrupt sleep patterns
What are Beta Blockers used for?
They make the user’s hands steadier, by lowering the heart rate and reducing the effects of anxiety and adrenaline
What is a disadvantage of Beta Blockers?

What are some disadvantages of Narcotic Analgesics?
- Ruins user’s coordination
- Ruins user’s concentration
- They’re addictive
What are Peptide hormones used for?
Erythropoietin (EPO) is artificially made and injected to stimulate the production of red blood cells in the user, and increases their heart rate
What are some disadvantages of Peptide hormones?
- Can lead to blood clots
- Can lead to heart attacks
- User’s blood becomes thicker

What are some disadvantages of blood doping?
Can lead to:
- Blood clots
- HIV type B and C
- Kidney failure
