The eggs are called Nits and can survive up to 3 weeks hen removed.

Exposure to infected persons Child in school Sharing hats, combs, clothing Sx = itcinghing, prickly feeling, Dandruff that moves,white spheres attached to hair shaft. back of head, neck and around ears. warmer areas of hair. Body Lice: pruritus Papules 2-4 mm, Axilla, trunk and groin. Sexually active, regular partner, multiple partners? PMH: not significant, denies history of STI, Denies previous pedicure infestation. Allergies: none Medication: none

Treatment
A
Non-pharm: Launder cloths hot water, good hygiene,
Pharm: 1% permethrin (Nix) last for two weeks. Apply leave 10 min, wash
Education: transmission, precautions, Recheck for live lice after treatment. No follow-up.
