What are carpals?
Wrists bones
-each arm has 8 carpals
-enables wide range of motion
-irregular-shaped, arranged in two rows in wrist area
What is a clavicle?
The collarbone
-long bone
-located anterior (in front of) of the pectoral girdle
What is a humerus?
Long bone in the upper portion of the arm
-connects with the pectoral girdle
-fractured by direct blow
-pectoral girdle connects at the end of the humerus (head of humerus)

A collection of bones connecting the upper appendages to the axial skeleton
-known as shoulder girdle or just shoulder
-provide stable and flexible movement

Bones of the fingers
-each digit has 3 phalanges
-thumb only has 2 phalanges
What is pollex?
The anatomical name for the thumb
What is radius?
Lateral bone of the forearm
-meets with humerus in the elbow area
-long bone
lateral = side of, away from middle of boy
-shorter than ulna
What is scapula?
The shoulder blade
-flat bone
-located posterior side (back side) of the pectoral girdle
What is ulna?
Medial bone of the forearm
-longer than radius
long bone (elbow to writs)
-proximal end of the ulna has a bump called olecranon process
What is an appendage?
A structure that is attached to the trunk of the body
What is the olecranon process?
A bump/indentation at a point in the elbow
-helps movement of the arms at the elbow
What are digits?
Fingers or toes
