What is verbal guidance?
A series of instructions/told what to do
What is visual guidance, and give an example?
A demonstration e.g. A coach showing you a football dribble
What is manual guidance, and give an example?
Physical support e.g. Supporting a gymnast when they’re doing a handstand
What is mechanical guidance, and give an example?
A piece of equipment e.g. Foam pit in gymnastics
What is an advantage of visual guidance?
Easier to copy
What is an advantage of verbal guidance?
Helps to motivate the performer
What is an advantage of manual guidance?
Corrects errors
What is an advantage of mechanical guidance?
Increased safety
What is a disadvantage of visual guidance?
Bad demonstration
What is a disadvantage of verbal guidance?
Too much information given if it’s a cognitive learner
What is a disadvantage of manual guidance?
Not effective if learner doesn’t trust coach
What is a disadvantage of mechanical guidance?
Ineffective if used for a long period of time
