What is the definition of aggression?
Aggression is intent to harm outside the laws of sport
What does instinct theory state?
Aggression is innate, enduring and underlying

What are the problems with the instinct theory?
Not everyone is aggressive
Not aggressive in every situation
What does the social learning theory believe?
Leant from significant others
Observation and copying
Positive + negative reinforcement
What are the problems with the social learning theory?
We for always copy behaviour due to moral obligations

Explain the frustration aggression theory?
As frustration increases it leads to aggression

What does catharsis mean?
Release frustration
What happens once you get a catharsis?
A sanction= get told off
What are the 2 problems with the frustration aggression theory?
We don’t all get to the point where we would harm someone
Morally we know aggression is wrong and will lead to some sort of sanction
What is aggressive cue?
An external stimulus affects you
Key points of aggressive cue:
Arousal level is increased
Performer associates cues with being aggressive
What 4 ways can we prevent aggression?
Instinct- innate can’t prevent it
Social learning- use of reinforcement
Frustration aggression- calm them down, take them out of the situation
Aggressive cue- calm them down, take them out of the situation
