Q

What other prerequisites must be satisfied before descent below MDA/DA?

A

You need to be in a position to land, have the required flight visibility, and have the runway environment in sight.

A challenge with an MDA is that if the visibility is poor, you’ll need to get relatively close to the runway before you can visually see it.

Consider the VDP location.

17
Q

What is the definition of a duty period under Part 135?

A

Under FAR Part 135, a duty period refers to the period of time when a flight crew member is required to report for duty with the certificate holder, including any flight time, ground duties, flight planning, training, and standby time at the airport.

Specifically, under 14 CFR 135.267 (for flight crew members assigned to one pilot or two-pilot operations), duty period limitations include:
• The duty period begins when the pilot reports for duty for any work related to the operation of the certificate holder.
• The duty period ends when the pilot is released from all duty obligations.
• A pilot may not be assigned flight time if the total duty period exceeds 14 consecutive hours, unless a rest period is provided per regulations.
• Rest requirements must be met before beginning a new duty period.

18
Q

How does the PIC determine the status of each mechanical irregularity discovered before flight?

A

135ACM.com

19
Q

How does the PIC record any mechanical irregularity that occurs during flight?

A

Using the MEL approved for the aircraft and mission page misc. tab.

20
Q

Is an annual inspection required by 135.409 for N901LM?

A

Yes and no. The annual is accomplished via Phase 3 and 4.

21
Q

How does LFAS comply with 135.83 with regard to cockpit checklists, instrument approach procedures, charts, and performance data?

A

checklists - physical
IAP - via ForeFlight / iPads
charts - via ForeFlight / iPads
performance - QRH

22
Q

How must cargo and carry-on baggage be secured in the B200?

A

Behind the baggage net in back or belted in a seat.

23
Q

Describe the requirements for pilot use of oxygen for flight in a pressurized aircraft.

A

10K to 12k for period over 30 min.
Above 12k continuously.

At altitudes above 25,000 feet, at least one pilot at the controls must wear an oxygen mask continuously unless quick donning.

Alone at controls? Above FL250? - then mask on.

24
Q

Define “critical phases of flight”.

A

Taxi
Take Off
Landing
Anything below 10,000’ (*if not in cruise)

25
Q

What duties are authorized during critical phases of flight?

A

Aircraft Control / Monitoring
Checklist Execution
ATC Comms
Crew Coordination

26
Q

Under what conditions would a takeoff alternate be required?

A

When wx is at or above T/O mins but below landing mins.

27
Q

What destination weather is required before you may takeoff?

A

Destination weather at ETA must be forecast to be at or above landing minimums.

28
Q

What limitations are in Part 135 regarding takeoff with frost, ice, or snow?

A

Verboten.
(*light fluffy ok, but must blow off)

29
Q

What facility lights are required for takeoff and landing at night under Part 135?

A

A Part 135 operator may not take off from or land at an airport at night unless it has permanent runway boundary lights and a light wind sock. (*or ASOS, etc. for landing - pilot observation ok for T/O.)

30
Q

If a pilot being checked by a company check pilot fails a maneuver, what grace provisions are given by 135.301?
