Op Specs Flashcards
Is LFAS authorized to carry hazmat?
No. We are a “will not carry” operator.
Is LFAS authorized to conduct takeoffs with lower-than-standard visibility minima? Under what criteria?
Yes, per Op Spec C057 we can take off with the visibility of the lowest straight in Cat I minimum visibility:
“When takeoff minimums are equal to or less than the applicable standard takeoff minimum, the certificate holder is authorized to use a takeoff minimum equal to the lowest authorized straight-in
Category I IFR landing minimum applicable to the certificate holder for that particular airport. The Touchdown Zone RVR report, if available, is controlling.”
Is LFAS authorized to conduct Eligible On-Demand operations? What are the prerequisites needed to conduct an EOD operation?
Yes. We are a Part 135 eligible on demand air carrier which means we can fly for hire to an airport that does not have weather reporting.
How would an LFAS pilot determine if an airport is suitable for an IFR alternate?
- Must have wx reporting
- Is a legal alternate
- One straight in app? + 400’ to MDA or DA + 1sm to vis.
- Two straight in app? + 200’ to higher of DA or MDA + 1/2 sm to vis. (**to two different suitable runways)
** at ETA
What approach procedures are approved for LFAS?
- Non Precision: LOC RNAV VOR VOR/DME (np)
- App with V: RNAV
- Precision: ILS
Can LFAS use a GPS-based IAP for flight planning to an alternate airport?
Yes.
LFAS can us a GPS based approach procedure for an alternate as well, just not the LPV flavor per Op Spec C055.
When using a GPS-based IAP for flight planning at an alternate airport what preflight information must be obtained?
WAAS Notams
