What is transpiration?
A
The loss of water by evaporation from leaves

What is the transpiration stream?
A
The movement of water from the roots to the leaves

How is the process where water travel in a plant?
A
- water enters roots by osmosis
- water draws up stem through the xylem
- water draws out of the leaf cells and xylem
- water vapour evaporates from legged mainly through the stomata

Where are stomata’s found?
A
On the lower surface of the leaf

What causes the stomata to open?
A
Guard cells taking in water by osmosis and swelling

What causes the stomata to close?
A
Guard cells loose water becoming flaccid
