Paper 1: Neurones Flashcards
What are the different types of neurones?
Sensory neurones
Motor neurones
Relay neurones
What does a sensory neurone do?
Carry’s impulses to the central nervous system
What does a motor neurone do?
Carry impulses from the central nervous systems to the effector organs
What do the relay neurones do?
Carries impulses from one part of the central nervous system to another’s
What do dendrons do in the sensory neurone?
Carries impulses towards cell body
What does the axon do in a sensory neurone?
Carries impulses away from cell body
What does the fatty myelin sweat do in a sensory neurone?
Insulates the neurone
What does the nerve ending do in a motor neurone?
Transmits the impulse to an effector
How does the electrical impulse travel?
Jumps from one gap in the myelin sheath to the next
What does the axon do in the motor neurone?
Carries the electrical impulse over long distances through the body
