Pancreatic Secretion Flashcards
Does the pancreas have CCK1 receptors
no
What cells make up most of the pancreas and what is their function?
acinar cells, they secrete hco3 in response to secrenin into the lumen.
What is the important channe in the pancreas associated with CF
Cl- channel, which allows for bicarb secretion into lumen.
What inhibits pancreas secretion?
oubain
What channel in pancreas does secrenin target?
cl-
Describe how the cl- channel allows for hco3 secretion
the cl diffuses into lumen through passive channel. then by secondary active transport, it goes back in, exchanging for bicarb
what electrolytes are constant in pancreatic juice despite flow changes?
na (hi) k (lo)
How is the pancreatic cell opposite from stomach cell?
the anions are changing concentrations in pancreatic juices which the cations are changing in gastric cells.
Which enzymes are activated by cephalic phase to be released from pancreas?
only protein enzymes. carbs are withheld until physical stimulus is applied
What is the ph threshold to trigger pancreatic bicarb secretion?
4.5. after a ph of 3, secretin is at maximal stimulation
How is secretin stimualted?
H hits the S cells of the small bowel, triggering secretin to be released towards the pancreas.
What type of peptides are a stronger trigger for CCK?
aromatic peptides
Do Ach and Secretin potentiate to allow for a higher pancreatic secretion?
yes
In addition to the potentiatoin between secretin and ach, what else allows for potentiation with secretin?
phenylalanine
What messengers does Secretin work through?
cAMP
