Will not awaken patient, they will sleep through evening
What is the ddx of IBS?
lactose intolerance, infxs diarrhea, colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, IBD (cd or uc), antibiotic associated, hypo/hyperthyroidism, rx, endometriosis, celiac sprue
What are various red flags for IBS?
weight loss, severe chronic diarrhea, rectal bleeding, onset of sx over 50 yo, recent travel or rx use, family hx of gi cancer, arthritis, lymphadenopathy, abd mass, anemia, abnormal thyroid, abnormal calcium
is a pt with ibs has constipation, what tests should you run?
tsh, calcium, colonoscopy if over fifty
What psychological illness have people linked to ibs?
anxiety and depression
