Potent synthetic narcotic analgesic similar to morphine and meperidine with a more rapid and less-prolonged action

Indications
Induce sedation for endotracheal intubation, severe pain

Contraindications
MAO inhibitors within 14 days, myasthenia gravis

Precautions
Increased intracrainal pressure, elderly, dibilitated, COPD, respiratory problems, hepatic/renal insufficiency

Dosage
Adult: 1-2 mcg/kg slow IV, Max initial dose 100mg (2-3min)
25mcg q 5mins, Max 200mcg
Severe burns: Max dose 300mcg

Mild to moderate pain, fever

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to asprin or NSAIDS, age<15, pregnant women, need for surgical intervention
Do not mix with Ibuprofen***
