Binds with cyanide to form nontoxic cyanocobalamin preventing its toxic effects; excreted renally

Indication
Treatment of known or suspected cyanide poisoning

Containdications
None in an emergency setting

Precautions
HTN, allergic reactions, GI bleeding, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dyspnea, dizziness, headache, injection site reaction

Dosage
5g IV infusion over 15mins at a rate of 15ml/min
Pedi: 70mg/kg IV one time, may be repeated one time at the same dose
