Pain Gate Flashcards
1
Q
What is ascending inhibition
A
Rub it better, AB fibres inhibit pain transmission
2
Q
What Pain gate is affected by
A
Other impulses, if no stimulus the gate is closed
3
Q
How are Alpha beta fibres activated
A
By pressure, inhibitory interneuron is inhibitory, pain gate closes the substantia gelatinosa is excited and the gate is blocked to pain impulses which don’t pass up to the brain
4
Q
What happens when a delta and c fibres are activated
A
Carry pain impulses to the gate in the spinal cord, inhibitory interneuron is inhibited, the gate is open and impulses can carry the pain message to the brain
5
Q
What’s gate affected by
A
State of mind, endorphins, encephalans, central control
