Hours of service and excluded days
Who decides on the hours and days of opening at the UKIPO
S120(1)
The Comptroller can decide. Such opening times may vary for different classes of buisness conducted
What happens if you perform an act after the relevant hours
S120(2)
The act is deemed to have taken place the NEXT open day. any deadline which falls on a closed day is EXTENDED TO THE NEXT open day
When are interruptions certified
R110(1)
The comptroller can certify a day as an interrupted day when
a) there is an interruption to normal operation at the UKIPO or
b) there is an interruption to the normal operation of postal services in the UK
How are interruptions notified
R110(2)
They appear in the OJ
What happens to deadlines falling on a interrupted day
R110(3)
They will be extended to the next uninterrupted and open day
What are the UKIPO’s hours
All days, all times for new applications NOT claiming priority
00:00 Mon - 23:59 Fri for new applications claiming priority, renewals and filing of all other forms and docs
9:00-17:00 Mon-Fri for other classes of business
CLOSED Good Friday, Christmas Day, and Bank Holidays (except for new applications not claiming priority)
