P, MNS, Others Flashcards
P Blood Group
Genes code for enzymes that sequentially add sugars to precursor substances
P1, P, Pk, and p (silent)
Anti-P
Naturally occuring in Pk phenotype
Auto Anti-P
IgG found in PCH
Called the Donath Landsteiner antibody
Binds the RBCs at cold temps and activates Cā at warm
Found in children following a viral infection and people with tertiary syphilis
Anti-PP1Pk (Tja)
Clinically significant IgM with a IgG component
Only found in amorph little p phenotype
Seperable anti-P, anti-P1, anti-Pk
MNS Blood Group
M, N, S, s, and U
Anti-M Antibodies
Some have IgG component in addition to IgM
Reactivity enhanced with increased serum:cell ratio
Some are pH-dependent react best on pH 6.5
Rule out with homozygous cells
Anti-S and Anti-s
IgG reactive at 37C and AHG phase
Anti-s is less easily destroyed by enzymes
U Antigen and Antibody
Found on glycophorin B at the base next to the RBC membrane
High frequency antigen, resistant to enzymes
Diego and Wright
Wra antibodies: can be non-RBC immune IgM or RBC immune IgG
Chido/Rogers
High titer, low avidity
RBC immune, IgG, non complement binding
Vel
IgM with some IgG present
RBC immune
Sda
RBC immune, IgM with few IgG
Shiny refractile agglutination
