Arthopathy, slate grey to bronze skin pigment, cardiac enlargement, fatigue, cirrhosis

Elevated liver test, iron/ferratin, liver biopsy- iron deposits
Hemochromatosis- Tx
avoid iron food, Remove iron containing blood, deferoxamine to treat iron overload
Hemophilia- Definition
Hereditary bleeding disorders due to deficiency in clotting factors.
DVT- definition
Thrombus formation in deep vein of body, most commonly legs due to inactivity, medications & clotting abnormalities
Thrombocytopenia- Definition
Low platelet count leading to abnormal bleeding due to decrease in marrow or increased breakdown in blood, spleen or liver. Vit B 12, aplastic anemia, leukemia, myelodysplatic syndrome
Pulmonary embolism- Definition
Migration of thrombi from deep venous system to lungs. Abrupt onset of pleuritic chest pain, SOB, hypoxia
Common conditions that predispose to thromboses
Venous statsis, trauma/ surg, catheter, pregnancy, estrogen, atheroscrlosis, smoking, hormone replacement
