- brush twice a day (morning and night)
- interdental clean once per day
what does the «support» portion of TIPPS include?
Going forward how best can you help the patient and maintain their oral hygiene.
- set goals for future appointments to help motivate the patient
what do healthy gingivae look like?
- pink stippled gingivae
- absence of bleeding on brushing/probing
- no inflammation
what are the clinical signs of gingivitis?
- red, swollen gingivae
- bleeding on brushing/probing
- may see signs of plaque presence on the gingival margin
what are the clinical signs of periodontitis?
- loss of attachment, gingival recession, BOP
- radiographic bone loss
- inflamed tissues
what is the definition of Gingivitis?
plaque induced gingivitis is an inflammatory response of the gingival tissues resulting from bacterial plaque accumulation located at the gingival margin
what is the definition of periodontitis?
inflammatory disease initiated by bacteria which causes severe inflammation and loss of attachment & bone surrounding the teeth
A patient comes into the clinic complaining that they have bad breath and there is sometimes blood in their saliva when they brush their teeth, they are also pregnant. What is your suspected diagnosis?
Pregnancy-induced gingivitis
