Optics Flashcards
Where do the 2 optic nerves meet?
At the optic chiasm (Images from 2 eyes fused)
Where do the optic tracts terminate?
Lateral Geniculate Body (Of Thalamus)
What is the term for the loop of optic radiation for upper visual field named?
Meyer’s loop (Travels through temporal lobe)
Where does loop of optic radiation for lower visual field travel through?
Parietal Lobe
What is the dorsal stream?
‘Where Stream’ - Determines objects spatial location (Parietal Lobe)
What is the ventral stream?
‘What Stream’ - Identification and Recognition (Temporal Lobe)
What would happen if complete lesion of left optic nerve?
Total left eye blindness
What would happen if complete lesion of optic chiasm?
Bipolar hemianopia (Blindness of each lateral side of each eye)
What would happen if complete lesion of right optic tract?
Left homonymous hemianopia (Left side blindness of both eyes)
What would happen to visual field if lesion of Meyer’s loop of left optic radiation?
Right homonymous superior quadrantanopia (Right upper quad of both eyes)
What would happen to visual field if lesion of parietal loop of left optic radiation?
Right homonymous inferior quadrantanopia (Right lower quadrant of both eyes affected)
What muscles do CN3 innervate?
Levator Palpebrae Superior and Superior Rectus (Superior Branch)
Inferior Rectus and Inferior Oblique and Medial Rectus (Inferior branch)
What muscle does CN4 innervate?
Superior Oblique
What muscle does CN6 innervate?
Lateral Rectus
Origins and insertion of LPS?
Origin: Common Tendinous Ring
Insertion: Upper Eyelid
