Q

Short sighted vs long sighted

Which one more at risk for acute closed angle glaucoma

A

Short sighted is negative, falls short. Lens diverges light too much. Therefore things closer that have a bigger entrance angle will be seen clearer. Sorted with concave lenses.

Long sightedness is positive, falls too far, lens not reflecting quite enough so better for things that are coming in at less of an angle (further away). Better with convex lenses.

Closed angle glaucoma more at risk with short sightedness because they refract too much, lense is bigger, less space in anterior chambers and so more likely to be blocked
