Operating Procedures Flashcards
GW/SS buffer
3nm wide centered on Greenwich meridian.
Excepted a/c:
LOREL hold a/c
GW arrivals under a full release from SS
SS NUGBO/UTAVA depa in accordance with the standing agreement between SS FIN and NW Dep
AOR
Subject to radar coverage of the equipment- RMA, CTR, CTAs.
From time at which-
Arrival a/c are released by TC until transferred to ADC.
A/C OCAS cross airspace boundary until transferred to ADC.
Deps on specified routes from ADC until transferred to TC or clear of CAS and transferred to other agencies
INT Responsibility
Calls from other agencies.
Receive calls from all inbound a/c.
Releases from TC Lorel.
Full releases from NW, NE, and SS.
Sequence from when they get a/c till giving to fin.
Establish initial sequence, descend to A5 and transfer to Fin.
Take calls for transfers, provide clearance, coord and transfer if required to fin.
FIN responsibilities
Take int sequence onto final to provide req spacing.
SRA.
07 CPT and OLNEY deps.
Coord MAP and retain control when delegated from int.
Liaise with air for spacing, range checks, and clearances.
Not vector out of approach area.
Accept 25 traffic on loc at int discretion.
Radar monitor and take action for ils approaches.
Monitor progress of overflight vfr as coordinated from int.
Outbound vfr.
Assist int and be aware of traffic situation.
Operation Between INT and FIN
GW AIR coord FIN for spacing. Coord with INT, +2nm for seq.
Appropriately vectored with standard speed.
Transferd within or shortly on approach area, in appropriate config for the traffic conditions.
Transfer no conflict during or shortly after transfer.
Fin coordate map with int, fin to keep if able.
SSR failure direct designation.
Int responsible for surveillance fallbacks and ETI.
ATM U/S
A/c report DME on contact to AIR.
AIR can’t reduce speed on final
2min departure sep minimum, increased to 4min if no visual reference.
No use of 5nm or 3nm dep separation.
Tower use ATM to ascertain the order which will need to be made aware to them.
Emergency Traffic - Sterilisation
TWR will not depart when within 10nm.
Landing clearance by 4nm.
If non duty runway, GS to advise the sooner of 30nm from touchdown or leaving the hold.
Following a/c at least 10nm in trail.
Emergency Traffic - Details to Tower
Runway to be used.
A/C type.
Nature of trouble.
Operating company.
A/c reg or flight number.
POB.
ETA.
Royal Flights
GS A to pass details and ETA. Required for local standby.
GW Use of ATM
Basic:
1. Determine order, spacing, distance
2. Assist applying longitudinal dep sep
3. Confirm initial track of dep confirms to clearance
4. Traffic info to a/c on other a/c in circuit or instrument approach.
Advanced:
5. Identify, validate, verify for deps
6. Monitor progress of overflights identified by TC Luton to ensure no conflict with deps/are.
7. Establish separation between departures (3nm increasing or 1000ft)
8. Pass Traffic information
9. Establish sep after missed approach
10. Assist correct action when separation between arrivals less than prescribed minima
WU C (07) & R (25) Departures
Non airways dep vis BPK
May wish to work Swanwick Mil.
WU will provide pre note to mil and get squawk and Freq. Will be passed to FDS. They will pass to Luton, who will provide a Luton squawk.
WU radar Handover to GW, work Luton, who will radar Handover to Mil.
Any climb into CAS to be coorded with SS&TC N.
WU inbound from OCAS
Expected to fly at A2.4 OCAS, with an appropriate service.
GW pre note WU, squawk and BPK estimate. WU pass squawk l. If able, radar Handover otherwise free all. WU may ask GW to tactically hold if other a/c inbound
SS TMZ
SS A1.5A base CTAs from SFC-A1.5A
Mode S with altitude reporting. No ATC requirement if this is met.
Approval required for A, A/C, non xpndr. Can only be authorised by LF LARS and SS.
Exempted areas at Hunsdon, SX, and SL
D206 Cardington
1nm radius danger area.
SFC-6000FT, min overfly is MSL.
Tethered balloons and UAS.
Mon-Fri 0400-2259UTC, and as notified. GS MID will notify GW
East Anglian Rocket Societ (EARS)
Aprox COCCU. Typically first Sunday of Month.
If above FL75, will contact SWA with times. Max alt is 10,000ft LON QNH.
GS A contacts 30 min prior, confirms time and level.
GS A calculate min overfly, prepare and distribute strip. 3nm pit volume 5 mins prior, ensure sterile. Avoid till confirmed clear. ZAGZO not laterally separated. Strip or blocker in ZAGZO bay
National Flying Laboratory Centre
“Aeronaut”
Based EGTC. Access DTY CTA21. Northern portion of CTA, Grafham water line - roughly ZAGZO-JUMZI. Subject traffic, may be permitted south of the line.
EGTC will inform SWA of any planned activity which is passed to GS A.
Tend to ask for band of levels.
Endeavour to accommodate - if unable give reason and delay.
Coord with TC LOREL prior to entry.
Entry to DTY CTA25 requires NW DEP coord.
Will work GW INT.
DTY Radar Corridor (General)
Centered DTY - R246/066 8nm wide FL110&FL100 (FL110 preferred)
Traffic transits under control of mil. Non SSR is permitted.
Deemed in corridor of laterally within and level FL100/FL110. If out of corridor or deviating out of corridor - deemed taking 5.
Mil may use all of corridor. TC apply 5nm SEP. Mil will not change level without coord.
DTY Corridor (Coordination)
Mil endeavour to pre note GS MID.
Squawk, level, directions, c/s.
Details on pre defined strip, distributed to Mids, Lorel, NW, GW.
Mids coord with LOREL. If conflicting traffic is with GW, then GW to also be coorded with. late request within 10nm.shall be corded with GW.
Mil may sterlise (or book tfn) the cooridor for a period of time.
CTA21 may be skipped remaining at FL100 - LOREL will be skipped in coord.
3nm Separation Requirement
Identified
Below FL245
Within TC AOR or delegates from Amsterdam
Under control of same controller or those with rapid communication
Separated by wake
NODE plot size 1
Reduced Separation from Infringets and requirements f
3nm / 3000ft
ATC a/c is below FL245, identified, within TC or LF AOR, and displaying NODE Plot size 1. May use unverified mode C provided returns do not merge.
If not met - 5nm.
Must also require STCA and Conflict Alert Computer, and MRT. Otherwise 5nm / 5000ft required
RTF: AIP
If delay not determined - Div to the flight plan alternative.
VMC - remain outside unless already cleared to enter or overiding safety reasons
IMC - If able, visual app, otherwise am IAP.
7 minutes at last assigned level speed and routing.
3 minutes if vectored.
RTF: In or en route to hold
Stay in hold at last assigned level until:
-ETA, or if not issued
-The latest of ETA +10, ATA +10, last known communication +10.
Then follow procedure for that hold
