Dunstable LOA parties
Between TC Luton, London Gliding Club, Dunstable Hang Gliding & Para Gliding Club, Joint Services Adventure Training (Gliding) / RAF Gliding & Soaring Association Chiltern Center.
For activity at and in vicinity of Dunstable Downs.
LGC shall be coord authority. When Active, Dunstable Liaison Officer (DLO) will be available. If unavailable, phone to office staff, and at other times the bar staff.
Procedure for delegation and ceaseation of Dunstable airspace
DLO notifies GS A, with 15 mins notice.
GS A informs them of runway in use.
GS A I formed Luton what airspace has been activated.
Luton to display strip and radar map appropriate to airspace being used.
DLO informs GS A when flying ceases.
GS A to inform Luton. Take care as may also be delegated to Halton.
GW TWR always assume active during day - do not need to be informed.
Dunstable: 07 to 25 change
TC Luton to inform GS A. GS A to notify DLO.
DLO will contact a/c in area 4 to vacate the area - which may take up to 15 mins.
DLO to confirm area 4 vacated.
TC not to vector through Area 4 until positive confirmation area is vacated. This effects OLNEY departures, and K & J SDR
Dunstable: 25 to 07 change
TC Luton informs GS A. GS A informs DLO. DLO to vacate area 5 and CTA8 which make take 15 minutes. TC not to vector through CTA 8 or area 5 till positive confirmation. Effects inbounds
Dunstable: Short Notice Return Of Airspace
Extreme situations only ie weather, emergency’s.
Takes up to 15 mins, via GS A to DLO. TC to return as soon as feasible.
07: Area 4
25: Area 5 and CTA 8.
Other areas unable as available to non radio
Penetrating Dunstable Airspace
IFR shall not penetrate - 500ft above.
VFR or SVFR (overflight, dep, arr) inform of intense gliding activity and if required shall advise to avoid immediate vicinity of DD.
Pass generic or observed activity.
Caution 07 arrivals not north of the app, and 07 vis app RT.

Active without reference to TC. Assume active all times during daylight.

RAF Halton Designated Airspace LOA
Coord Authority is RAF Halton Duty Instructor. If main & backup unavailable, RAF Halton security can relay an urgent message. Only available when GW is RWY 25. Traffic within is radio equiped
RAF Halton Delegation and Ceaseation
DI contacts GS A. Confirms 25 in use, requests airspace with 15 mins notice. GS A to inform TC Luton - airspace map and strips as to show airspace as appropriate.
DI informs GS A when no longer required. GS A informs Luton - consider at this time free of RAG Halton A/c.
If runway change from 25 to 07- GS A informs DI. 15 mins to vacate Airspace - DI confirms when clear. TC not to vector through till positive confirmation
RAF Halton Penetration Of Delegated Airspace
IFR not to penetrate active airspace - 500ft above.
VFR , notify pilot of activity and if nessesary shall pass generic traffic information on reported or observed activity.
Advise all aircraft flying in vicinity to avoid Halton ATZ, may be active gliders, fixed wing, microlight and occasional fast jet
