Operant Conditioning Flashcards
Operant conditioning
Learning through consequences
Reinforcement
Something that increases the likelihood of behaviour reocurring
Positive reinforcement
Something that increases the likelihood of the behaviour reoccurring through pleasant consequences when they happen
Negative reinforcement
Something that increases the likelihood of the behaviour reoccurring by using unpleasant consequences when they stop
Punishment
Something that decreases the likelihood of the behaviour reoccurring through unpleasant consequences when they happen
Continuous reinforcement
The behaviour is reinforced every time it occurs, resulting in a stronger response
Partial reinforcement
The response is reinforced only some of the time, resulting in a weaker response, but will take longer to extinguish
