Q

With a gravity extension there are 2 items lost:
1). the nose gear doors will stay open, what problem will this cause after landing

2). What else?

A

No hyd to the nose wheel steering

Cat 3 single (no Cat 3 Dual)

Q

What do you request from ATC?

A

1) . Emergency equipment
2) . Ask for foam
3) . Ask to towed from runway, since you will not have any “ nose wheel steering” (this for a successful gravity extension) only!
4) . Inform the TWR that you will be evacuating the A/C

Q

All gear and doors are hyd actuated by which hyd system?

What is the purpose of the safety valve and when does it operate?

A

1) . The green system
2) . Above 280 kts the hyd supply is isolated and is closed until the speed is below 280 kts and the landing gear lever is place in the down position

Q

How does the gravity gear extension work?

A

It is a electro-mechanical system. When the related electrical selectors are placed in the down position:

1) . Landing gear hyd sys is isolated
2) . The gear electrically unlock
3. The gear extend by gravity
4. Locking springs assist in the Dwn lock
5. Gear doors remain open

Q

What is the BSCU and how does it work?

A

Brake steering control unit and it is powered by the green hyd unit. There are 2 BSCU. It receives input from the auto pilot, tiller, and rudder peddles. Electrically signal hyd powered.

13
Q

When and under what conditions is the automatic braking activated?

A

When the Grd Spoilers are activated and the a/c speed is above 40 kts and the nose landing gear is on the ground.

With an acceleration stop, if below 72 kts the auto braking will not activate because the ground spoilers will not be extended.

Q

What are the 4 modes of braking?

A

Normal
Alternate with anti skid ( blue hyd )
Alternate without anti skid ( brakes are supplied by the accumulator)
Parking brake ( blue or hyd)
Accumulator maintains parking brake pressure for 12 hours
Accumulators can be pressurized by the blue electric pump

15
Q

Brakes hot comes on when?

A

Temp exceeds 300 c

16
Q

Limitations with flying with the gear down?

A

35000 feet
No icing conditions
Disregard fuel predictions/alt/speed/time except time in cruise
Do not use manage speed except (approach, climb, descent autopilot modes.
Select T/A only TCAS
(Automatic fuel aft transfer is lost!!! )

17
Q

What is the max speed with the landing gear down?

A

255kt/m.60

18
Q

For a go around with the gear down, what weight considerations do you have?

A

Decrease the limiting weight by 12%

19
Q

What is the recommended CRZ/descent speed?

A

240/m0.52

20
Q

In case of eng failure at CRZ with gear Dwn, considerations?

A

Go to pro-Spo-25-40 Gross ceiling at long range and green dot-one eng out

Thrust for drift down will be MCT

21
Q

Where do you go for the Procedures and Performance with the gear Dwn operation?

A

FCOM-PROCEDURES SPECIAL OPERATIONS:

Flight with gear down performance

22
Q

Where do you go for Fuel Penalty Tables ?

And what is the formula?

A

QRH FPF-FPF

Trip Fuel Penalty=(FOB-EFOB/DESTxFPF)
(37,500x180%)=67,500TFP
