OPC/LPC 2014 Flashcards
What is the max speed for gravity extension and after the gear has been extended by the gravity extension procedure?
200 kts, prevent vibration from coming thru the floor.
With a gravity extension there are 2 items lost:
1). the nose gear doors will stay open, what problem will this cause after landing
2). What else?
No hyd to the nose wheel steering
Cat 3 single (no Cat 3 Dual)
With out nose wheel steering what technique can the crew use to vacate the runway?
Differential braking
What do you request from ATC?
1) . Emergency equipment
2) . Ask for foam
3) . Ask to towed from runway, since you will not have any “ nose wheel steering” (this for a successful gravity extension) only!
4) . Inform the TWR that you will be evacuating the A/C
All gear and doors are hyd actuated by which hyd system?
What is the purpose of the safety valve and when does it operate?
1) . The green system
2) . Above 280 kts the hyd supply is isolated and is closed until the speed is below 280 kts and the landing gear lever is place in the down position
How does the gravity gear extension work?
It is a electro-mechanical system. When the related electrical selectors are placed in the down position:
1) . Landing gear hyd sys is isolated
2) . The gear electrically unlock
3. The gear extend by gravity
4. Locking springs assist in the Dwn lock
5. Gear doors remain open
On the wheel SD page, the left green triangle and the right green triangle are operated by what?
Left by the LGCIU 1 and the right by the LGCIU 2
What is the BSCU and how does it work?
Brake steering control unit and it is powered by the green hyd unit. There are 2 BSCU. It receives input from the auto pilot, tiller, and rudder peddles. Electrically signal hyd powered.
What is the nose wheel steering limit and the red warning on the over head panel comes on at what degree of travel?
Steering angle up to +-72 and the red warning on the over head is at +-93
Rudder peddles provide nose wheel steering when?
Below 100 kts at landing
Up to 150 kts for T/O
What are the two independent brake systems?
Green is the normal
Blue is the back up
Backed up by the hyd accumulator
BSCU switch from one to the other when?
When the landing gear lever is placed in the down position
What is required to arm the auto brake system?
Green hyd pressure
Antiskid
No failure in the BSCU
At least two Prims and one ADIRU available
When and under what conditions is the automatic braking activated?
When the Grd Spoilers are activated and the a/c speed is above 40 kts and the nose landing gear is on the ground.
With an acceleration stop, if below 72 kts the auto braking will not activate because the ground spoilers will not be extended.
What are the 4 modes of braking?
Normal
Alternate with anti skid ( blue hyd )
Alternate without anti skid ( brakes are supplied by the accumulator)
Parking brake ( blue or hyd)
Accumulator maintains parking brake pressure for 12 hours
Accumulators can be pressurized by the blue electric pump
