Patient selection criteria for UA embolization of symptomatic uterine fibroid?
A
- Women with symptomatic fibroids who might otherwise be advised to have surgical treatment
- Women with symptomatic fibroids where anticipated multiple or difficult myomectomy
- Women with symptomatic fibroids but wish to avoid surgery or unwilling to receive a blood transfusion
- Women indicating desire for future pregnancy should only be offered after fully informed discussion about the limitations of such a procedure and the relative lack of existing data regarding future fertility and pregnancy outcomes, and should only be considered on a case-by-case basis.

What is the patient exclusion criteria for UA embolization of symptomatic uterine fibroid?
A
- Evidence of current genitourinary infection and/or malignancy
- Refusal to undergo hysterectomy following peri- or post-UAE complications
- Evidence of pregnancy
- Asymptomatic uterine fibroids / predominant adenomyosis
- Uterine malignancy was suspected
- Concurrent use of a GnRH agonist
- Evidence of pedunculated submucosal fibroids, dominant pedunculated
subserosal fibroids (attachment point <50%) - History of allergic reaction to contrast medium and renal impairment
