When should pregnant mother be cautious about decreased fetal movement?

Answer 1

• If women are unsure about whether movements are reduced after 28+0 weeks of gestation, they should be advised to lie on their left side and focus on fetal movements for 2 hours.
• If they do not feel discrete movemetns in 2 hours –> seek medical attention

What is the Mx for decreased fetal movements?

Answer 2

• history taking: gestational age, RF for stillbirth and fetal growth restriction and drug history reviewed. Depressant drugs and narcotics may reduce fetal movements.
• Women withreduced fetal movements after 28+0 weeks of gestation, order CTG immediately and review tracing for FHR. If CTG not availble –> auscultate for FHR.
• If women presents prior to 24+0 with reduced fetal movements –> auscultate with doppler handheld device
